I have a question for those who have experience in touchup paint work.
I bought a can of Delcron(?) paint to touch up the many nicks on my
85 318i. I understand that the idea is to smoothly add paint to the
chip until it makes a "bump" and fills the divot. Then, using super-
fine grain sand paper and a stream of water, gently sand down the
touch up pain (while washing continuously with water) until it is level
with the original paint surface. Then carefully compund out the small
scratches of the sand paper. My first question is: is this the correct
procedure?
Secondly, what is the best method for applying the paint? Will a small
regular paint brush work (like those at the arts/crafts store)? What is
the best way to apply the paint? With smooth brush strokes or more of
a "dab" with the end of the brush?
Happy New Year!
