Think of it as insurance. That means 2 things.

hat are the odds of my having to spend $300 a year, the next two years. If
you are a perfectionist type, you can probably get you money back vs. what it
would cost to have the dealer fix various
minor problems.
Another point is the "peace of mind" idea. How much is it worth to you to
know that if your engine decides to just quit life one day, that you will not
have to take a second mortgage on the house?
Third, service policies are generally in the 50% profit range in the states.
Do some bargaining w/ them.
