Squeak in E36 doors, vent flaw

The squeak seems to be a common problem. It is caused by the edge of the
door trim rubbing against the metal door. Temporary fix:- squirt WD40 all
around the edge of the trim; this fix lasts a couple of months.
Permanent fix:- remove the trim panel, insert approx. 1/2mm packing
(i.e. build up layers of insulating tape) underneath the white spring
clips that secure the trim. This prevents the trim from touching the
metal. Result - blissful silence.
Regarding the vent flaw. I seem to recall reading recently that '95 models
have reinforced dashes to prevent them from coming away from the air vents.
Presumably your car is still under warranty, so just ask for a new dash!
