Never heard of this problem, but the listing of tech bulletins from the
Alldata WWW site (thx Jim) has this entry for the E36 318's:

>NOV 93  14.  COOLANT LEAKAGE FROM TIMING CASE PROFILE GASKET

You might want to see if you mechanic/dealer knows anything about this
bulletin.  Let us know what you find out...
