Ooops! / Decoding VIN's
The bloopers segment of the local news here just showed a clip involving BMW
NA. To commemorate the opening of the S.C. plant, BMW sent a car by
transporter to go on display in the S.C. state capitol...however, nobody
bothered to inform the driver unloading the display car that the brake fluid
had been drained, so as he backed off the loading ramp...he couldn't stop!
The video showed the car backing out of the transporter, down the ramp, and
then out of frame...followed by the sound of impact and broken glass....and
finally a shot of a very PO'd driver.

A previously posted question about VIN's had a partial key on how to decode
all the numbers and letters...can anyone provide the full scoop on how to
decipher the VIN and production number?
