I don't think it's so much that the hub center hole is smaller, but that
the offset is very different. The E36 runs much more negative (?-towards
the center of the car) offset than the earlier models. I tried borrowing
a wheel from a friend's '93 325is to try on the 3.0CS, and the offset
was about an inch or so off. The center hole looked like it might
fit, though, although I didn't try it on a spare hub assembly.
This is a bit of a bummer, though, as the wheels look good and are rather
plentiful used. And they don't use TRX tires.... :)

The only catch here is that no other wheel fits the E21 cars......
The E21 runs more positive offset than the others.
