Heated seat questions

Michael,
  We have the heated seats in our 89 325iC. The seat backs most definately have
heating elements. In fact, these work a little better than the other heating
element. It takes about 45 sec to first notice the heat. And this seems to be
true on both the high and low settings. On our iC, the swithces are located
in the center console beside the parking brake, so access is not too obstructed.
I don't really know if there's a weight switch/interlock because we usually 
don't turn on the seat heater if no one's sitting there (i.e., in our car, there
are seperate switches for the driver and from passenger seats).
