It is just like you expect.. A 9 year old car that didn't get enough
lubrication in the right places. And now I'm feeling the pain.
When I bought it (85 535i) the drivers door key
New mail on node XAVIER from SMTP%"MSA-L@domain.elided"
When I bought it (85 535i) the drivers door key lock didn't allow to lock
sorry un-lock.. you can't get in unless you use the passanger side or the
truck! I was still able to lock fro the driver side.. Now the lock is dead:-(
I opened the door cover, I can see the central lock switch that enganges
the lock-motor, but I can't figure out the lock mechanizm. I thought something
it loose or .. but playing around I say a circular spring fall off the inside
grrrrr... That spring gave the little resistance when turning the key. Now
the key turns smoothly in both directions without locking or unlocking.
Do I have to replace the lock? It's a real pain in the !@#@# to get to it
let alone replace it.
I took the right side aprt to learn from it, but the passanger side is totally
different. So I just kept the spring I found in a safe place and came to
write this..
Thanks for any pointers...
ps. I was just thinking about selling it - This always seems to happen. I now
changed my mind. I will never sell my car. I will never sell my car. I
will never sell my 535.
