3 series radio
I recently helped install (or reinstall) a factory cassette player
in a 1984 3 series. the question I have is what is the wiring setup. This
particular car has a fader seperate from the radio console. We figured
this out after we connected the power adn plugged in the speaker connections
To make a long story short the previous owner had simply cut the old radio
out. Luckily the wires lined up, but they were rather short and
made it interesting to reconnect. Anyway now there is sound in all
speakers except for the front right. After re checking our connections
there was still no sound. So we left it at that. I seem to think that
it is the radio because the pn connectors that plug into the
back of the radio were not cut, only the ones going to the ( or
that i think they were going to) were cut. There are 6 wires coming
out of the fader switch a solid yellow, solid blue, which I assume are
the common grounds for left and right. and then four other wires one yellow
with red, one w/ black and one blue w/ red and one w/ black stipe. I assume
that these are the front left/ and rear left right postive wires. So to
after looking over the connections of the blue wires and reconnecting them,
there was still no sound. So the deduction is that it is either a radio
problem or a speaker problem.
Basically I am looking for a wiring diagram to back up the connections. Every-
thing sounds great but that one speaker doesnt work.
The other question I have has to do with the soft "inject" of the tape
player. When inserting a tape the radio kick off but the tape never
drops to be played. I have been told that this is a problem w/ orther
radios as well. I believe the radio is an Alpine but I am not sure. Any
help or tricks to get the tape to drop?Or maybe a reset or something
that can be adjusted from the outside. Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you. - Curt
