The Feb and March Roundel have articles by Rob Siegel on a troubled seat. 
Liked it because It mirrors my experience. Take it apart - ask a few questions if 
you have to - and, with a little study you will be able to correct the 
problem. The seat frames are well made and can be repaired. After tackling an E30 
seat with a busted weld I will never fear BMW seats and upholstery again. Not 
counting my own labor it cost me $15 to fix.
