Ooops!,

Some sellers commonly list as no reserve to get a vehicle "bid up" and then pull the item at the last minute because its not what they wanted to sell for. Its kind of silly though because when I have ebayed in the past a lot of my bids come in at the last minute. Thats why on a car its good to either list at your "rock bottom" price or have a reserve. Remember its an auction and not a car ad. Ebay cars go for bottom dollar in a lot of cases because there is no negotiation or test driving involved.
Ebay considers this a "selling offense" though if there is no valid explanation of the reasoning behind the auction pull. Although there may be a valid reason. In a lot of cases if the car sells locally buyers will pull the auction. I don't really agree with this practice though. It defeats the spirit of the auction. A lot of sellers want their cake and eat it too. Have the "quick sale" of an auction but get to pick and choose your buyer and your price. I generally do a lot of looking at ebay cars but have never had much luck buying one.

I looked at a BMW Z3 once that was listed on ebay by a "Team" dealer in Marietta Ga. I called in advance and verified the car was still there and wanted to test drive it. They told me who had the car at the dealership and I drove 1.5 hours up there to see the car. The salesperson indicated the car had sold and when I further inquired I discovered that the listing was being done by their web designer who had no idea the car had sold. The person I talked to on the phone was the web designer. After that experience I only look at ebay cars. Unless its super rare or one of a kind Ill buy locally from now on. There are too many variables involved to buy a used car off a web page.

I recently needed to replace my 1988 528e's five-year-old Interstate
battery. Since I'm unemployed and car needs attention in many areas, I
sprung for a cheapie, an Energizer at Pep Boys. According to the chart, the
battery should be group 93. When I got the 14"-wide behemoth home, I
realized the Interstate was 10.5" wide.

I removed a couple of neighboring parts, but still couldn't get the 93-sized
battery into the bay. Returned it, and wound up putting in a group 91
Delco. The Delco catalog calls for a group 93 size as well, so I guess my
questions are, is there anyone out there who has successfully mounted a
group 93 into a 1988 528e, and how?
