there are lots of places on the web to show you exactly the difference
(google on 'tire size calculator'.. for instance

punch in the tire/wheel sizes and you'll see that
225-55/16 diameter =25.7
215-60/16 diameter =26.2
speedo with new tire size will be 1.6% slow (reads 60mph when you are doing
61 mph)
BUT worn-out tires give more of a change than this between new and bald, and
your speedo is probably off by about 10% anyways (most BMWs are).. soooo
drive 'em and smile ;) and don't worry about it, you're fine
