[bmw] Re:Oil Change

    Tell you what my German BMW mechanic told me when I arrived on the east
coast with my newly purchased, used, 1992 525i.  It had had a 50k checkup
and oil change at the end of its lease.

    I drove it cross country and continued to drive it around town for the
longest time (6k miles or so) and still had several lights to go on the oil
change indicator.

    I called him and asked his advice.  "I can zell you a new enchine or a
new oil change.  It's up to you."  (He sounds remarkably like Arnold
Schwarzenegger.)  

    Following his advice, I ignore the lights and change it every 3500 to
4000 miles.
