no-start diagnosis

Gentlemen
In a no-start, you must first determine if you have spark!
Pull the most convenient spark plug wire, insert a new plug into
the connector, and ground metal end of the plug to the motor. Stand
way back and crank the motor (on some BMWs you can do this thru the
diagnostic connector, but make sure you're out of gear, as the motor
may start) while watching the plug for spark.....
No spark... Check out:
Coil, coil wire to distributor cap, distributor cap (spring loaded
center contact) & rotor, flywheel position & speed sensors
(disconnect and check for resistance 960 ohms +/- 10%).
Yes spark, no start--- chances are no fuel.....
Check out:
   fuel pressure, fuel pump,

Always check for spark before checking for fuel. I've heard from
owners who found and spilled some fuel, and then found spark......
