Having serviced many early eighties BMWs, I found the Eberspaecher (sp?) the most solid and correctly formed OEM replacement, and used it when available. Ansa for that vintage was generally the tinniest and most likely to rust out the soonest. Bosal could be as good as the Ebersp.. depending on model.
Don't forget to use new hangers, o-rings, clamps, bolts and __copper nuts.

Who makes the best replacement aftermarket muffler from the
cat back? Ansa, Bosal, or Eberspaecher? This is for a 1983
BMW 528e. I have asked this question before and I got no
