suspension question
I had some racing dynamic springs installed by a shop someone (guy at the
place where I ordered my springs) recommended. They also installed my koni
sport shocks all at the same time. I spent the whole time there watching
them do the installation. The guy working on my car did not look like he
knew what he was doing because he kept asking the other mechanics questions
on what to do and when he installed the rear koni shocks one of the other
guys had to stop him and tell him to take them back out and cut off an inch
of foam before installing them. Needless to say i had to get in there myself
and remove the rear speakers so they could get access to the rear shock
mounts (i didn't really mind because the guy was greasy from working on the
car). Anyway when all was said and done I looked at tthe car and the front
did not look like it was lowered at all, the rear looked lowered because the
tires were almost up in the wheel well. i was told when i ordered the
springs that the springs lowered the car 1 inch all around. The guy at the
shop told me that the springs and shocks have to settle or something like
that. Anyway I took it to another shop that specializes in bmw and the guy
took one look at it and said that it was not installed correctly(i was going
to take it to this shop but the guy kept telling me to come back because
they were swamped with work). He looked up under the front wheel well and
said that the springs were compressed and that they need to cut off the
spring perch and drop about an inch and weld it back on to the strut. Does
anyone know of this? and is there anything else i should be aware of?
One of my rear shock mounts was busted when they did the insatllation but i
had them put it back in because I did not have a replacement at the time.
Looking to get some ground control poly urethane mounts to replace them
with. I dropped the car off today and they said they will take care of it no
problem. I had them talk to the other bmw guy because they wasn't sure what
needed to be done. Well my car is supposed to be ready at end of work today.
thanks in advance
