Thread-topic: Fuel Pump Replacement

I have discovered I have a leaking fuel pump on the ol' Spider.  I have
also found that the Bosch replacement pump is quite pricey.  Has anyone
tried putting some other kind of pump on?  Or is there a way to rebuild
the pumps I have (the pump from the parts car leaks too)?  They both
run, and both leak from around the electrical plug.
