[alfa] re: stirring up trouble



I fail to see how America is the "toughest car market in the world" besides marketing needs and the strains that a low population density puts on your dealer network. The North American market isn't terribly competitive in terms of competition in any given segment. American car buyers are easily the least discerning in the world. The world's worst cars have consistently sold very well here, from Chrysler K-cars, to the Koreans, to the Yugo. The Italians have never bothered to understand the marketing and customer service requirements of the North American market--if they wouls, they could sell the Fiat Punto here profitably.
