[alfa] Calling Ian Lomax - help with O2 sensor!

Ian,
I bought an O2 sensor from you a couple of years ago. I am trying to use
it on my spider. The sensor is a 4-wire Denso sensor. My understanding is
that two wires are heaters (the wires that are the same color, for which
polarity obviously does not matter), one is signal, one is ground. The
Spider ('91, Motronic), uses a 3-wire, which implies that the motronic
measures the O2 sensor voltage relative to chassis ground, and the O2
sensor produces a voltage relative to chassis ground, grounded through the
exhaust system.
Does this mean that I should leave the fourth wire disconnected on the
4-wire, when installing?
I get 6MOhms (!) between one wire and ground. All others have no
continuity whatsoever.
Upon installation, my check engine light goes on after a few minutes.
Still trying to determine if it is RPM related.

any advice?

thanks,

Karl
