Re: [alfa] Seats from a '79 spider

Hi Mario:

AFAIK, seats from any year 105/115 Spider will bolt right into any other year 105/115 Spider. I've got '87 Veloce seats in my '74 Spider, and the only difficulties came when I had to drill out the bolts holding in the '74 seats. They had obviously been in place for 26 or so years, and were made of an alloy that had the consistency of slightly chilled butter. The bolt heads stripped with the first touch of my screwdriver. Soak your bolts with lots of PB Blaster if they're still in place.

Be aware that the '79 seats didn't originally have the shoulder belt guides that your '84 car requires, which is exactly the reason I retrofitted the '87 seats to my '74. I wanted seats that would work with 3-point seat belts, sourced from an '82> Spider. It's not a big job to swap the belt guides from your '84 seats onto the '79 seats. Remember the old MG slogan, "Safety Fast!". I've owned a few MG's, though, and never had one that was either safe or fast . . .
