That's certainly possible. My source is the tire ads in the back of R&T and C&D each month. Their listings for the performance tires for brands like Khumo, Bridestone, and Riken tires seem to start at 16".

I believe you are mistaken. Tirerack lists 13 variations of Kuhmo tires
in 205/50 R15 size, including shaved, heat-cycled, ZR rated, V700
Victoracers. I've had the Ecsta 712s on my Verde, and they are quite a
bit sticker than the Pirelli P6000s.
