[alfa] Re: solinoids

Hi guys. Just to point out a potential problem - a solinoid can "click"
and still be bad. The contact points can be worn/corroded and not send
juice to the starter. In cases where the solinoid is mounted to the
starter, an old trick is to carefully bridge the gap between the heavy main
terminal and the blade terminal on the solinoid with a screwdriver . This
will bypass the ign switch and give a little extra juice to the solinoid,
which will often burn through the corrosion on the contacts and get the
starter cranking. Eventually tho, the contacts get so badly worn that even
this won't work and you'll have to replace the solinoid. HTH, Ron.
