[alfa] Blue

Only three or four times! It's the first in a trilogy - "Blue", "White",
and "Red", the colors of the French flag - by a Polish director,
Krijstof (I think) Kieslowski, who is now most unfortunately dead. The
three movies are not sequential so much as intertwined, with some scenes
being shared (though from different angles, viewpoints and distances)
among all three. Anyone who values witty, humanistic storytelling, even
if the plotlines may be a tad enigmatic, needs to see these. They're all
love stories, of a sort, and they all point to the utter necessity of
loving and valuing one's own life and experiences. Kieslowski's first
international hit (again, I think) was "The Double Life of Veronique",
which was even odder; had it not been so beautifully done, I'd have
found it annoying. I still see it whenever it's on IFC or whatever.

Just to demonstrate Kieslowski's attention to detail (and to include
some Alfa Content), the first scene that Kevin mentioned includes a shot
or two of what appears to be the proportioning valve in the line to the
rear brakes - it has been either badly connected or tampered with, and
is weeping fluid copiously...so it WASN'T the 164's fault, after all!
