The problem with the Allen bolts holding the half shafts is not going
to be with a lock washer. I am not even sure these have lock washers. It has
been a while since I messed with a transaxle Alfa.
The problem is going to be rust and the fact that a 6 mm Allen wrench
is not adequate to break loose a corroded 8 mm bolt. I found an impact wrench
had some effect on the bolts attaching the half shafts. I also found a blue
wrench (cutting torch) was required for some of the bolts.
       Good luck.
