RE: [alfa] re: V6 engine swaps

How about a Delorian? Get rid of that POS Renault Feugo engine in there.

Not long after The Fall.. all the remaining Deloreans were bought by some company, and brought to a large building (former aircraft hangar) next to where my Dad was working at the time.. It was pretty amazing, they'd have 1-200 cars there at a time, getting their finishing assembly..

He used to drop by on lunchtimes.. it was that late Mid-life kind of time.. he ended up buying one.. (for $16.5K, just about half the original list price)

A gorgeous looking car.. but a POS in several ways:

They had bad fit and finish.. for instance the tiny side windows would OFTEN get jammed or stuck off their tracks.. he had the car only about 7000 miles before there was very noticiable rear axle play... (bad bushings, or did my Mom run over something in a parking lot and keep it quiet?) panels would come off or the leather would unpeel..

The car was rather underpowered for it's exotic looks.. think it was 136hp for ~3200lb, and that PRV V6 for some reason sounded more like a Greyhound bus than a sportscar.. it also was very tailheavy..

So... (Alfa Content!) if you could put a Alfa V6 in there, it would be a large improvement.

He did end up selling it 5-6yrs later, for exactly what he paid.. though if it timed selling it right against the various "Back to the Future" releases, he probably could have got $25K.. ;-)
