[alfa] 164 Infrared Lockout Code

Anyone have any experience with the 95 infrared alarm system? One of my fobs
is dieing (have changed the batteries, cleaned the switch and resolder the LED
but none have made it work consistently.) and need to be replaced, but I don't
have the unlock code. Has anyone had any luck finding a lost code. The dealer
that sold the car has no reference of the code. The PO didn't write it down in
the manual, nor was he able to find the red key tag.

I'm considering spending the day punching in numbers until I get the right
one, but I want to make sure there is no security feature that will prevent
this (like your atm card if you enter the wrong pin 5 times in a row in a day
the car no longer works). Has anyone tried this method? Am I stuck spending
$300 for a new receiver to do this?
