[alfa] Funny starting condition
Hi Gang,
Here is a question that puzzles me and I need some help from some in the know
type Alfa folks.
In working in a friend's 86 spider I have replaced the ignition switch and
the starter has been rebuilt, along with a recent head gasket. new
plugs/wires/cap and rotor, and coil.
When cranking, it is not getting spark. It will crank and crank with not
spark.
Funny part is when I turn the key and crank the starter, and let go of start
and quickly hit start again without the starter having a chance to stop
spinning, Bingo it gets spark and cranks, but if I let the starter come to a
complete rest and hit start it won't start. Of course I have to reset the key
quickly to get this to work. I have cleaned all kinds of grounds and connections,
but am wondering about a relay somewhere that might be doing something funny.
What ya think? Pretty crazy to me, but there has to be some form of logic to
this.
Thanks for your help!
