[alfa] Re: 2.0L rebuild/used replacement...

Rebuild it from the ground up. Unless you bought the car new, you don't have 
any idea what the engine saw for the first 100k miles.

I'd suggest you pull and rebuild the whole engine, you won't be sorry you 
did. The 74 2.0L with some new cams and fresh bearings and you'd have a *really* 
fun toy.

The engines off ebay are likely to cost you the same plus purchase price when 
they crap out and you have to rebuild them after a few short miles.

I spent a bunch on my Alfetta engine, but I did it with eyes wide open. I 
asked for all the stuff I had done to it so I wasn't surprised what the final 
bill was. I'm sure a decent rebuild can be done for $1-2k, depending on the 
beginning condition of the engine.
