Hi Ben:

You'll find a nice set of two throttle cables in the kid's bike section of 
any Wal-Mart, cleverly disguised as brake cables.  They're the proper 
diameter, and even have the correct lead-ball end in place for the 
bellcrank side.  I think they were right around $2.
