[alfa] Engine Detailing (image sizes)
Mark Denovich I suspect is having a bit of fun, but have had this
question (however, more subtly put) before: "Speaking of going blind...
How about linking the thumbnails on your site to the original larger
images? The itty-bitty images don't do justice to the work or the
subject."
***********
Mark, had you been slightly less obvious as to the specific picture you
wanted enlarged, I would have run right out and changed all of them,
just for you.
Those of you who know the ins and outs of the technical aspect of web
design, I'm open to suggestions. I attempt to give as much visual
information as possible while going on the basis the majority use a 56k
modem, a 17" monitor, and have the resolution set at 832 x 624.
I'm on a shared server and use medium high tech photography equipment,
circa 1975. I scan every photo in to PhotoShop to rework and except for
images I use twice - e.g., the Spica with the '69 inlet manifold
close-up which is on the engine detailing page and also on the Biba
Restoration home page - they are cropped at the preview stage and
immediately sized before sharpening, etc. in PhotoShop.
There are approximately 200 images alone on the series of 1960 Giulietta
Spider Veloce pages. If I'd included 'click on image to enlarge' for all
200, it would have at the very least quadrupled the megabytes, not to
mention download time - unless someone knows something I don't.
Now Mark, aren't you glad you asked?

Did you get one of the highly advertised new enlargement patches for
your monitor so it could go up to 1900 x 1200?
