Re: [alfa] Alloy Wheel Refurbishment Advice sought.

Hi Tim:

You might consider having the wheels blasted with a softer medium. Perhaps walnut shells or plastic beads. Here in the states, aircraft service centers will usually have the plastic beading capability, while many auto shops have the walnut shells.

I would like to refurb the alloys on my 24 valver myself. My local
sandblasting man says 'don't sandblast them' as it is far too vicious...which
leads nicely onto bead blasting. Unfortunately there is nobody local who does
this, so before making enquiries further afield I thought I'd ask digesters
about their experiences of bead blasting alloys. Is this the best method to
get em cleaned up, or is there a risk of getting a hammered effect on the
alloy..which I would prefer not to have.

All experiences and recommendations gratefully received.
