[alfa] RE: maximum torque from 2 liters

There will be lots of stories around this topic for sure.

As far as I know 260 Nm is more or less maximum. This yields a mean
combustion pressure of 16.4 bar which also is well above F1, DTM cars or
any other racers.

The car is an Opel powered F3.
16V
86/86 bore/stroke
12.8:1 comp
dry sump
piston weight 255 g!!
175 hp/5000 rpm
260 Nm/4600 rpm (talk about usable rpm range)

The other F3's should be in the same ballpark.
Alfa TS F3 had only 240 Nm which can be explained being only 8V (12.7:1
comp)

The 2.0 touring cars were not much behind with about 250 Nm at 6-7 krpm.
This means combustion pressures of about 16 bar. They use about 12.5:1
comp as well.

In comparison the F1 engines have "only" 15 bar mean pressure but at
slightly higher rpm.

Subject: [alfa] maximum torque from 2 litres

Completely off topic, except in as much as I'm looking for
comparisons for the Alfa twinspark engine:
What's the record for the highest torque from a 2 litre
naturally aspirated engine? And what compression ratio
was that engine running?

Kind regards,
