[alfa] spica low fuel pressure

A relay on the trunk mounted fuel pump can do wonders for low fuel pressure problems on a Spica car.

The relay is mounted near the fuel pump. The old "+" lead to the fuel pump is used as the switching input lead on the relay, and then a fresh 12 or 10 gauge insulated wire is run from the battery to the relay as the permanent hot lead. Use the same gauge new wire from the relay output side to the fuel pump, and again the same gauge new wire as the local ground for the relay, and you're done.

The rear fuel filter however is likely still a restriction in the system. The original Alfa filters had the equivalent of a 1/2" inlet and outlet, most aftermarket filters out there have 3/8" inlets and outlets. Even a new filter with such a restriction will adversely affect the high flow rate of the fuel pump. Try to find a substiture from some other application with the larger orifices, i finally ended up with some Fram filter which was threaded to accept NPT fittings, and custom made some NPT adapters with a 1/2" ID.
