Hi Graham, Not knowing how the manual switch was 
introduced... the original 3 wires coming out of
the sensor goes up above radiator. You can see 
better by pulling off the rubber cover. The 3 wire
cable is connected to the wiring harness via a 3 
conductor connector atop radiator.

From there, the wire goes toward right side (as looking
at engine bay) and goes behind between radiator and driver
side headlight into a bundle... That's where it lost me...

The 164 manual's wiring diagrams aren't as precise as
the milano's...
