[alfa] Re: Tumbleweed
Here's one of life's little lessons: One day you may find yourself in
this situation so don't do as I did. I was living in Sacramento and
working at a client site in Monterey. Every week I would drive down
I-5 to 152 (or is it 156 I don't remember). One day a few years ago
(when there was that big tire fire near Tracy) I was driving down the
road doing my customary "75" -- which with my speedometer means
something between 85 and 90. I noticed these huge tumble weeds blowing
in the distance and they were moving quite quickly. I had my windows
rolled down and noticed that there was hardly any wind noise. The
rational mind would have processed that and realized that I must have
had a significant tail wind -- like 70 MPH. I was just passing a semi
when I hit a tumbleweed the size of a VW. Fearing the worst, I
immediately pulled off the side of the road to survey the damage,
opened my door and poof -- newly remodeled door that opens completely
to the front wheel. The sad part is there really wasn't any damage
from the tumble weed. There's nothing worse than doing something
really stupid and knowing you have no one to blame but yourself.

Just read your eBay ad. All that damage caused by a tumbleweed?
Sounds like
an interesting story there you could tell (or perhaps you'd rather
not).
