RE: [alfa] Radio security code & power antenna
George; From my Alfa MANUAL "How to Reactivate A Disabled ETR"; try this:
With the Key 'ON': PRESS and HOLD the 'TUNE
[FF]' button in and PRESS the '1'[REP] button. The display will read "_ _ _"
and "CODE" indicator. Now you are ready to input the existing three digit
identification number [the wrong number you entered--if the unit accepted
the wrong number]. To set the first ID digit: PRESS '1'[REP] repeatedly
until the desired number appears on the display. To set the second digit:
PRESS 2 [the DOLBY B symbol] repeatedly until the desired digit appears on
the display. To set the third digit, PRESS '3' repeatedly until the final
digit is displayed. With the new I D number appearing on the display: PRESS
the 'SCAN' button and HOLD it in till 'SEC' appears for a few seconds, then
the display will go dark. If the wrong buttons are pushed, 'ERR' will appear
before 'SEC' appears. Go back to step two and try again. Be careful, on the
tenth wrong try the unit goes dead and your toast; in this modethe red SEC
indicator will light up.
Hope this helps, EV

Subject: [alfa] Radio security code & power antenna
Digesti,
After disconnecting the battery on my '91 Spider Veloce to install a Squadra
chip, I entered the wrong security code to reactivate the radio. The station
frequency display is now frozen on the incorrect code, and I can't get the
correct code to register even after disconnecting the battery again. Has
anyone ever recovered from such a dumb trick?. The radio / cassette tape
unit
is branded Alfa Romeo, and digest archives suggest it is a Clarion.
And... has anyone repaired an inoperative automatic antenna?. The only
information I found in the digest archives referenced replacing the original
power antenna with one from Radio Shack.
Thanks,
George Schweikle
