[alfa] Unashamedly cheapskate aircon question-164

I confess I'm an aiconditioning virgin, and a cheapskate to boot, so along
with the inevitable derision I'd appreciate some help/advice.

I need a new aircon hose for my 164 rebuild, part no 60590112. This hose
passes from the top of the condensor and take a U bend across the rad going
from metal to EPDM rubber its about 3 feet long in total (1m). The thread on
the compressor end is damaged. Is it worth using a  second hand unit or do I
bite the bullet and buy new. Secondly the hose is clearly marked "Only for
R134". Does this mean that I should not use an earlier hose from an R12
vehicle.

The new Alfa part is about $90 (#60 or so). Do aircon shops make up new hoses
or is this not a viable cost effective option .

I have already shelled out for a brand new condensor..Its Italian, was
delivered overnight from my local Radiator shop and $150 less than the Alfa
quoted price. If other people stock Alfa parts..why don't Alfa?

Any advice appreciated.
