2. The normal rotation of the engine is counterclockwise (looking from the
front of the car to the back).

All Alfa's from the last fifty years(and most engines in general) have
engines that rotate clockwise, when veiwed from the front pulley.  If you
are working wih a four cylinder, it doesn't matter which way you turn it.
If it is a six cylinder, and if you have a thermo-mechanical tensioner, only
rotate clockwise.
