[alfa] Twin spark engine - why use only one spark plug?

Looking at the gorgeous installation on Jim Steck's page 
www.autocomponenti.com/new.htm.
presented in the engine cleaning thread recently, there appear to be only 
four plug leads installed. Why oh why go to the expense of installing a 
twinspark when you don't use it?

Just to make this clear, I know that Jim knows what he is doing, but "I" 
can't work out what he's doing.
