Dear John

I have a 91 Spider that did that to me. I was starting anticlockwise laps 
on a skid pad and suddenly put out a smoke screen like I'd never seen 
before. Got black flagged. Came in and found nothing wrong. Went out again 
and it didn't happen again.

After a bit of investigation and some help from Brian Shorey (Chief 
Organizer of the 2004 AROC to be held in New Hampshire next year - 
shameless plug, lots of affiliation) I found the brake booster awash in 
brake fluid that was sucked back into the engine on anticlockwise laps. So 
I think Joe Elliott is right on the money when he suggested brake fluid, 
especially when you would have had to turn left (anticlockwise) and 
probably gone over a few bumps on the median. Brian suggested I change the 
booster and master cylinder, both of which I've done. I did receive other 
advice, that just changing the master cylinder and sucking all the brake 
fluid out of the booster would be fine but ...
