[alfa] Re: 74 Spider VIN Question

Hi Tom:

Just off the top of my head, I'd say no, that's not a '74 VIN. I'm pretty sure the number would be in the range of AR3045xxx to AR3046xxx. Mine is a AR3046149. The site's no longer up, but there was a '72 - '74 series 2 Spider register run by Tim Lentz, and all the '74's listed were in that range. Isn't the production date info plate on the left door jamb? Keep in mind that Italian VIN's were sketchy back in those days, but Alfa wasn't as bad as some of the others. There are also other ways to tell, if the car hasn't been too molested (i.e. the bumpers, seatbelt interlock system, FI pump model, LSD, wheels, window cranks and door handles, etc.). I'm sure someone else will be able to give you more specific VIN info. Good luck.
