[alfa] 105/115 front heat shield

Kevin,

One caution is that the Berlina heat shield is different
from the Spider heat shield, at least in '69 (or at least
in some '69's. The GT Veloce
shield may be the same as the Spider, but I am not
certain.) Spider heat shields are available from various
sources here and in UK/Europe. Berlina heat shields seem
to be NLA.

I used the hard-rubber-like heat shield stuff from JC
Whitney - in a double layer - to
replace the oil-besotted asbestos on one, and it has held up so
far, but that is just a few months. This stuff has an adhesive side, and
I also wired it on using the staple holes in the metal piece.

My thought before I found a Berlina shield was to make one
out of the aluminum sheets that are available at most hardware
stores. I was told by an old Alfa hand that just the
aluminum would do... insulation wasn't really needed, and
the air gaps would suffice. But I haven't confirmed that.

HTH,
