I'd be the last person to say one should replace all SPICA pumps with
Webers, but your statement that "weber carbs destroy motors" is pure
hogwash.  European Alfas never used SPICA, and used Webers all through
the 70s.  None of the pre-SPICA cars (US market or otherwise) seem to
suffer unusual failure rates from the Webers they were using, either.
