While it could be the heater valve, the first thing to check is the 
thermostat.  It just might be a coincidence between a stuck open thermostat and the 
application of stop leak.  BTDT on a non Alfa.  At any rate thermostats are so 
much easier to check and replace that the KISS theory could really pay off.
