Re: [alfa] Testing Bosch Relays

I just did this on my 164Q.

Pull the cover off the relays (the cover is black, just to the driver's side of center near the radiator when looking under the hood). Then disconnect the connection to the radiator thermal switch. There will be three wires. Place jumpers between the ground wire and each of the other wires (one at a time). To test for the ground wire, simply look for ) resistance to the engine across each of the wires. The one that gives you 0 resistance is the ground.

Turn the ignition key to the on position and check to see that the fan is running (and the realy should click). Repeat test on the other lead which should make the fan actuate at the second speed (higher or lower depending on which one you got the last time).

This procedure is really simple. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I need to test the two A727 50A 12V Bosch relays which activate the radiator
fan in a 164LS to check that they are both working. How does one do that with
a multi-tester ?
