AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION???!!!  "Driving" a car with an automatic is like 
"cooking" on an electric range. It CAN be done, but it's ultimately 
more trouble than it's worth. I have never driven an automatic 
transmission that was worth beans. They shift at the wrong point, they 
shift when they want to, and they don't shift when you want them to. 
The automatics with the manual actuators? WORTHLESS. They are so slow, 
that by the time the tranny as dropped down a couple of cogs, you are 
way past the apex of the turn. In addition, automatics are also the 
cause of much of the congestion on our nation's roads. Don't think so? 
Here's the scenario: highway is crowded, so some guy (or gal) feels 
he's too close to the car in front. If he had a manual, he would just 
take his foot of the throttle and engine braking would likely slow him 
sufficiently. Automatics have little or no engine braking due to the 
transmission's torque waster -er, torque converter, so our friend in 
the example has to momentarily touch his brakes (most drivers of AT 
cars seem to ride the brake too much). His brake light flashes. This 
alerts the bored driver behind him, and he, not knowing what's 
transpiring, hits his brake a little harder in preparation for an 
emergency stop. His brake light comes on longer, causing the guy behind 
him to brake even harder. This propagates back through the pack until 
at some point somebody has to come to a complete stop along with 
everyone behind him. If everybody had a manual, this wouldn't happen so 
much.They make for lazy drivers, waste gas, and add to the congestion 
on our nation's highways.  I say outlaw 'em. If a driver can't use a 
manual tranny, they have no business driving a car. Just my two cents, 
you understand. This si a sore spot with me.
