[alfa] sick of synchros?

I too am in the camp that, while really liking the feel of Alfa gearboxes,
thinks the synchros are weak compared to other brands. My wife's 535i has
230,000 miles on the original trans and the synchros are fine. Our 1970 VW
bus has 185,000 miles on its trans and the synchros aren't perfect, but
they're better than in most of the Alfas I've owned. I don't shift the
Alfas harder or differently from the German cars (if anything I'm easier on
them), so I personally don't think it's a matter of use; I think it's
inherent durability.

The only Alfa gearbox I've owned with good synchros is the one I had rebuilt
5,000 miles ago.

My two cents.
