For those who have been following the saga of the new-to-me '86 Spider...

I got the head off tonight.  Melted pistons.   The piston domes look like
the surface of the moon.   The combustion chamber looks like it has some
residual damage too.   This car must have been detonating badly for a long
time to get this bad.  I'm surprised it didn't hole a piston altogether.

I found a used '86 motor pretty quick from a friend and fellow digester.
Now I have to deal with shipping it here to Chicago from the Northeast.
Any suggestions on shipping a motor would be appreciated.

Other than that, it should be a pretty straight forward swap.   The PO said
the clutch was slipping so this is an opportunity to get that fixed while
it's out.

The existing '86 still has some good parts.   Block, cams, intake are all
still in good shape.  If anyone needs anything from it, let me know.
