Ed,

Richard may be on to something re. the pressures.  Not doubting your
mechanic's guages, but I did not get cold air until about 40 psi low side
when I charged my S.  I know this is on the high side of the manual spec but
if your clutch is engaging and pressures are OK, you should have a cold
line.

Re. the steppers, the stepper for mixing hot/cold air is located on the
passenger side near the pop-out panel with tire pressure info. If your
stepper is not working, you can manually move the  the door to the "all
cold" (toward engine compartment, I think) through the access door.
