I finally broke down and bought a timing light this morning, but it's been so long since since I'd bothered to borrow one to check my timing, I don't remember how it's supposed to be timed at idle. I vaguely remember being told that it was okay to advance it 5 degrees ahead of the stock settings, but that's about it. Well I also remember that I need to disconnect a vacuum line to check the static timing, but I don't rememer which one.
